Vernovis is looking for a Sr. .Net / C# Developer that will learn and understand less common software programs and architecture and offer a depth of experience to guide other developer and at times design and execute on challenging nuanced programs, separate from their regular development and maintenance of web and mobile applications. This role will eventually become a SME in CI/CD pipeline architecture and maintenance, and over time, shifting to architecture.


What You'll Do:
  • Learn and understand legacy systems architecture, primarily web apps written in .NET with SQL server in the data layer.  Some React, but the UI elements are newer and typically don’t get elevated to this person.
  • This role would vary depending on workload, but targeting 50/50 (50% direct analysis, refactoring, or modification of code and 50% advising developers in architecture and maintaining/ modifying CI/CD pipelines). 
  • Responsible for tracking progress and flow of all assigned products/ projects, and able to report that status to IT Leadership as needed.
  • Desired tech experience or aptitude/ passion:
    • .NET (primarily C#/ Core/ MVC) 45%
    • SQL (MSSQL) 25% (primarily CRUD operations, some light analytics and query tuning)
    • Jenkins CI/CD Automation 20%
    • HTML/CSS/ JavaScript/ React 10% - not a major focus or need, familiarity is important for the operations above.
  • Champion agile practices. Know the goal for each stage of product development, decompose those goals into smaller chunks of work (in conjunction with a product manager) and monitor progress against those goals.
  • Have interest in growing into a software architect, helping newer developers design efficient and effective software solutions that may or may not interact with legacy software. While deep expertise isn’t expected on day 1, the right candidate will have an interest in growing into this space, with a commitment to learn and understand best practices. 
  • Championing team communication, promoting effective communication strategies such as change communication tickets, regular communication with other teammates, email/ chat or meetings.
  • Regularly assess and take feedback from team regarding new technologies, languages, frameworks, and tools. Implements those where they add material benefit.
  • Communicates regularly with product managers and tech support to uncover trouble spots and gain useful feedback.
  • Desire to eventually lead team members on the software development team.

What You'll Have:
  • 5-7+ years’ experience with the following:
    • .net Core/ C# and MSSQL preferred.
  • 5+ years in a technical position with focus on development (software and/or database)
  • Ability to work well with others on the team – collaboratively troubleshoot issues as they straddle bounds of other team’s systems. 
  • Self-starter/ high drive and initiative – Keep assigned programs functioning with a high degree of effectiveness with minimal oversight.  Proactively find and fix issues
  • Growth Mindset – Desire to constantly expand knowledge and “limits”.  The ideal candidate will be able to grow with the company into new roles.
  • 4-year degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
