Vernovis is currently partnering with a multi-billion-dollar utilities organization in the Midwest to place a Senior/Lead Tax Analyst to join their dynamic, fast-paced Corporate Tax Department. This role is responsible for preparation of monthly income tax provisions and co-sourcing assistance with preparation of the federal and state income tax returns. As well, assisting the tax team with tax research, planning, process improvement and other ad hoc projects as needed. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of large public accounting firm or publicly traded corporate tax experience. Relevant industry experience is also preferred, but not required.

What You'll Do:
- Prepares monthly tax provision for assigned companies
- Assists with co-sourcing for preparation of the Federal and state income tax returns
- Supports regulatory initiatives by gathering data and preparing regulatory schedules and/or preparing pro-forma calculations, testimony and data requests; Assists with review and analysis of regulatory documents
- Prepares the tax aspects of the Company’s financial plan for assigned companies
- Researches and documents federal, state and local tax compliance issues for assigned companies
- Identifies, analyzes and improves existing processes and automation leveraging technology within our organization to maximize opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness and meet new goals and objectives. Support tax internal control framework by documenting work fully and accurately
- Supports tax controversy, strategic tax planning and regulatory reporting/planning as needed
- Develops and fosters strong working relationships across the tax department and with key stakeholders such as Accounting, Treasury and Regulatory
- Requires 4 year degree in accounting/finance discipline
- 3-6 years of ASC 740 tax accounting and compliance
- 3-6 years of public accounting (Big 4 preferred) or publicly traded company experience (or combination)
- Requires extensive experience with Microsoft software especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint is expected, and experience with Alteryx and Tableau is desired
- Experience with tax systems (CorpTax and PowerTax), database management systems, and web-based research applications (CCH) is desired
- Preferred qualifications: CPA, MST, JD or MBA
